Traffic safety checkpoints to be held in Williamson County

The Williamson County, Illinois, Sheriff’s Department has announced an traffic safety checkpoints will be conducted through March. 

The sheriff’s department says the roadside safety checks will be scheduled during the day and at night at several different locations within Williamson County to detect and remove impaired drivers from the road.

Drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs will be arrested, deputies say. Deputies will also focus on seat belt use and uninsured drivers.

Several DUI saturation patrols will also be scheduled through the next few weeks. The Illinois Department of Transportation’s Division of Traffic Safety is funding the traffic safety checks and patrols.
