Mayfield woman on life support after Sunday morning shooting

A Mayfield woman is on life support after a shooting Sunday morning.

Mayfield police officers were called to West Hale St. around 6:30am and found 22-year old Lauren Alexander of Mayfield inside the home with a gunshot wound. Alexander was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and was later taken to a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

Police arrested Ezell Miller, 34, Sunday night.  He is charged murder, burglary, tampering with physical evidence, two counts of possession of a firearm by convicted felon and two counts of wanton endangerment.

Police have not released any details surrounding what lead up to the shooting. They continue to investigate.
