Uhaul ends up in ditch, driver ends up in jail on DUI charge

The driver of a Uhaul truck was arrested for being under the influence after McCracken County deputies say he drove off the road and into a ditch.

Deputies were called to Blandville Road early Sunday morning and found Terry Wellnitz, 44, of Hodgenville, Kentucky and his passenger standing in the road.  Deputies say Wellnitz was driving eastbound and ran off the road, hitting a mailbox before his Uhaul ended up in the ditch.

They performed a field sobriety test which Wellnitz failed.  He was arrested for DUI.  His passenger was taken to the hospital for non-serious injuries.  The road was closed for about three hours to pull the Uhaul out the ditch.

That portion of Blandville Road was closed for about three hours, but it is now back open.
