Letter states local Illinois college may reduce staff due to lack of state budget
According to a letter obtained by WPSD Local 6, John A. Logan College is considering reducing its workforce.
The letter, sent by college President Ronald House, says the school is experiencing financial difficulties because of Illinois’ lack of a state budget.
Because of that, the administration is expected to make recommendations to the Board of Trustees to cut costs. According to the letter, this includes reducing the college’s workforce and getting rid of some of its programs.
The letter was sent to employees who may be part of that staff reduction. It states that if the board approves the recommendation employment will end for those employees at the end of the Spring 2016 semester.
The recommendation is expected to be made at an upcoming special meeting of the board of trustees scheduled for Wednesday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m.
