Incredible Colon returning to Lourdes
You can take a tour of the human colon on Friday.
The Incredible Colon will be on display outside the Lourdes Marshall Nemer Pavilion on Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The 20-foot long, 10-foot tall exhibit shows examples of polyps, health colon tissue, and several non-cancerous diseases of the colon.
The Incredible Colon is a part of Colorectal Cancer Awareness month.
Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men and women combined.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says as many as 60% of deaths from colorectal cancer can be prevented if everyone age 50 and older were screened regularly.
When colon cancer is found early, the five-year survival rate is 90%.
