Woman injured in single-vehicle wreck

Kentucky State Police say a woman was injured in a single-vehicle wreck that happened on U.S. 60 East near Marion, Kentucky, Thursday.

KSP says the wreck happened at 11:01 a.m. Thursday, about seven miles north of Marion. Troopers say 41-year-old Angela Maples of Marion was headed westbound when she lost control of the vehicle in a curve on the wet road. The car traveled across the eastbound lane and left the roadway before heading down an embankment and hitting a tree.

Maples wasn’t injured and neither was her 3-year-old daughter, who was sitting in a child safety seat in the back, troopers say. But 40-year-old Valina Yates, who was sitting in the front passenger’s seat, had to be taken by ambulance to Crittenden Health Systems.

The Mattoon Community Volunteer Fire Department, Crittenden County EMS, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assisted at the scene.
