Teens injured in two-vehicle wreck in McCracken County

Two teenagers had to be taken to a local hospital after a two-vehicle wreck in McCracken County Wednesday afternoon, sheriff’s deputies say.

Around 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Kentucky Dam Road and Culp Road. Deputies say 17-year-old Jordan Clark of Paducah was driving northbound on Culp Road Clark and tried to make a left turn at the intersection with Kentucky Dam Road when she pulled into the path of an eastbound vehicle.

Deputies say the driver of the vehicle, 52-year-old Clay Phelps, of Calvert City, didn’t have time to react and hit Clark’s vehicle in the driver’s side door.

The impact caused Clark’s vehicle to leave the roadway and come to rest in the front lawn of Reynold’s Body Shop. Deputies say Clark had to be extricated from her vehicle by mechanical means. Clark and her passenger, 16-year-old Genesis James of Paducah, were taken to Baptist Health Paducah. Phelps was not injured.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by Mercy Regional EMS, Reidland Fire Department and Speedy’s Towing.
