What’s Going Around: stomach bugs, sinus infections, the flu

Rhonda Darnell in Marshall County says seasonal allergies are in full bloom. Symptoms include itchy watery eyes, stuffy nose, and scratchy throat. She says over the counter allergy medications work well, but see your doctor if you are running a fever or  if the drainage becomes thick, a sign of infection.

Michelle Elkins in Marshall County is treating a stomach bug causing, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. She says you should rest, drink fluids like Gatorade to prevent dehydration, and, in more severe cases get prescription anti-nausea medication. 

Jennifer Brown and Martha Kloss in Paducah say they’re still treating influenza, both A and B, and strep throat and pink eye. Those are all very contagious, so wash your hands often.

Dr. Brian Harrison in Benton, Illinois, is treating sinus infections and sore throats with fever.
