Pennsylvania woman injured in semi crash on I-57

One person was injured in a two vehicle crash involving a semi.

Illinois State Police say the crash happened on Interstate 57 southbound near mile marker 50 around 1:37 a.m.

Troopers say a semi came up behind a GMC Terrain too quickly and hit the rear end of the GMC.

The semi then went into the median, stopping in the northbound lanes with one of its trailers overturned.

The driver of the GMC, 44-year-old Christine Moffett of Slatington, Pennsylvania, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. She was treated and released.

The driver of the semi, 39-year-old Diavala Lusakembi of Urbana, Illinois, was uninjured. A passenger in the semi was also uninjured.

The Interstate 57 northbound lanes were closed until about 4:00 a.m. for clean up.

Lusakembi was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and improper lane usage.
