Woman injured in 2-vehicle wreck

A woman was taken to a local hospital after a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Lone Oak Road and Goad Road in McCracken County Thursday, according to sheriff’s deputies.

The wreck happened around 4:16 p.m. Thursday. Deputies say 81-year-old Virginia Stewart of Paducah was driving a van northbound on Lone Oak Road. When she went to turn left onto Goad Road, deputies say, she didn’t notice a southbound car driven by 66-year-old Joan Washam, also of Paducah. They say when Stewart turned, her van hit Washam’s car.

Washam’s car went off the road and down an embankment into the lawn of Lone Oak First Baptist Church.

Stewart was not hurt, but deputies say Washam was taken to Baptist Health Paducah for "non-incapacitating injuries."

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Mercy Regional EMS, the Lone Oak Fire Department, Speedy’s Towing and Randy’s Towing.
