Secret Service surrounds Trump during rally speech
Tensions are running high as Donald Trump campaigns in Ohio, a day after he canceled a Chicago rally citing fears of violence.
While Trump was speaking at an airport rally today outside Dayton, Secret Service agents rushed the stage and formed a protective ring around him. Almost as quickly, they left the stage and allowed him to continue his speech.
Trump’s campaign says the agents acted when a man attempted to breach the security buffer. A Trump spokeswoman says the man was "removed rapidly and professionally," and the candidate was able to finish his speech.
The billionaire businessman called off a rally on Friday night in Chicago, after protesters filled the arena where he was scheduled to speak.
Trump addressed the incident at the start of his rally today, calling what took place at the University of Illinois at Chicago "a disgrace, if you want to know the truth." Trump said protesters he described as "professionally-staged wise guys" were determined to cause problems. He says he was worried his backers would have gotten hurt.
