Stolen handgun and marijuana found in car during traffic stop

Two Sikeston men were arrested after marijuana and a stolen gun were found in a car.

Around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers stopped a car in the Malcolm and William Street area.

Inside the car, officers found small baggies of marijuana and a loaded handgun.

The handgun had been reported stolen out of Cape Girardeau.

24-year-old Jaqualin Wiggins  and 25-year-old Byron Patterson, both of Sikeston, were arrested and charged with possessing marijuana with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Both received a bond of $100,000 cash only.
