Monday last day Missourians can apply for flooding disaster aid

Monday is the final day that Missourians can apply for federal disaster aid due to the winter flooding.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says you have until midnight to register for two types of federal assistance.

Grants are available to to help cover serious disaster related losses. This includes paying for rent for those who were displaced from their homes due to the flooding and funds to help pay for basic home repairs.

The grants do not have to be repaid, and property owners and renters may be eligible.

Low interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration are also available to businesses, non-profit organizations, homeowners, and renters.

Disaster assistance is available in 33 Missouri counties that were hit by flooding between December 23, 2015 and January 9, 2016. This includes our local counties of Cape Girardeau and Scott.

You can register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.
