Carbondale Farmer’s Market beginning 2016 season on Saturday

Folks in a local Illinois community will soon be able to buy locally grown fruits, vegetables, meats, baked goods, and other items as their farmer’s market begins it’s 2016 season. 

The Carbondale Farmer’s Market will open for the 2016 season on Saturday, April 2. The opening day will be from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Westowne Center across from the Murdale Shopping Center. 

The farmer’s market says in addition to fresh produce, it carries items including free-range eggs and broiler chickens, grass-fed and finished beef, humanely raised heritage pork, oyster and shiitake mushrooms, honey, pickled goods, jams, salsas and locally roasted coffee. It also features freshly baked breads, cookies and pies. There will also be local artists who make quality jewelry, ceramics, picnic tables, whirlybirds and other expertly hand-crafted items.
