Man’s body found after early morning fire

One man’s body was found and another man was found injured in a Calloway County fire early Tuesday morning, according to the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office. 

Calloway County Fire and Rescue and the Calloway County sheriff’s deputies responded to the house fire at 5955 Pottertown Road around 3:20 am. Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office. 

Deputies say responding units arrived to find the home of Joseph Ballard engulfed in flames. Emergency responders found one resident, Jeff Ballard, injured outside the home. He was taken to Murray Calloway County Hospital.

Deputies say Joseph Ballard was found dead within the home after the fire was extinguished. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Murray Calloway County EMS, the Kentucky State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator.
