Charleston, Missouri man killed in crash in Ballard County, KY

Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Ballard County.

The crash happened around 6:05 p.m. Wednesday on US 51 one-half mile south of Wickliffe.

Deputies say 50-year-old Charles Oliver of Charleston, Missouri, was driving a pickup north on US 51 when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the center line and went under the trailer portion of a oncoming semi.

Oliver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. An autopsy been scheduled.

The crash blocked the road for several hours Wednesday evening.
