Semi wrecks on I-57 early Thursday morning

A semi pulling two trailers was in a crash around 4:07 a.m. Thursday.

Illinois State Police say the semi was heading north bound on Interstate 57 when it drifted off of the right shoulder near mile marker 71.

The driver, 57-year-old Arthur Stowers of Sparta, Illniois, overcorrected causing the semi to go back across both lanes and into the median.

Stowers tried to get it back on the road. That’s when the rear most trailer turned over onto its side. The first trailer and the cab remained upright.

Stowers was not injured. He was charged with improper lane usage.
