Carjacking suspect killed after shootout with deputies

A man is dead Tuesday night after getting into a shootout with sheriff’s deputies in Franklin County, Illinois.

Investigators say it started around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon when deputies responded to a home burglary. Deputies tracked down the suspect on Interstate-57.

Investigators say Joshua Moreno of Bowling Green, Kentucky used a weapon to carjack someone.

Deputies say he started firing at them when they stopped him. They say he was killed when they returned fire.
