Driver of ambulance cited in crash

The driver of an ambulance was cited in a crash over the weekend.

The Carbondale Police Department was called to the intersection of Reed Station Road and Illinois Route 13 just before 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say an ambulance traveling west on Illinois Route 13 disobeyed a traffic control device and hit a vehicle traveling southbound on Reed Street Road.

One person had to be extracted and two people were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the ambulance was cited with disobeying a traffic control device.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
