Purchase Parkway traffic to be diverted around overpass

Drivers are encouraged to avoid a portion of the Purchase Parkway near Mayfield, Kentucky for the next two days.

Starting Tuesday, Purchase Parkway traffic will be diverted around the KY 80 overpass via the exit 22 ramps.

Traffic will be routed up the exit ramps and then immediately down the entry ramps to get around the overpass.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says they need the road under the overpass closed so that crews can place concrete beams.

The diversion is expected to create traffic back-ups in the area and significant delays are possible.

Drivers are encouraged to take an alternative route if possible.

Traffic is expected to be diverted for two days.
