Sheriff’s department: suspected meth lab causes car fire

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says a meth lab is the suspected cause of a car fire that happened Tuesday night.

Deputies say they were alerted to the fire around 8:45 p.m, Tuesday near the intersection of Elmdale Road and Oak Street. They say the car had Illinois plates and was abandoned on the side of the road.

Investigators say an active meth lab inside the car ignited a fire in the vehicle’s interior. Deputies suspect the driver fled the scene on foot.
