Cape Girardeau hospital offering free stroke screening

Saint Francis Healthcare System in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, is offering free stroke screenings next month.

The hospital says it will host the screenings on Tuesday, May 3, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Fitness Plus Multipurpose Room (at Entrance 8, at 150 S. Mount Auburn Road) as part of its community education programming during National Stroke Awareness Month.

The screening includes a risk assessment, blood pressure, cholesterol testing and medical consultation. For accurate results, a 10- to 12-hour fast is required. The hospital advises you continue to take regularly prescribed medication and to drink water to avoid dehydration. To register for the upcoming stroke screening, call 573-331-3996.
