Deputies recover antique sewing machine taken during burglary

A Paducah man was arrested in connection with a burglary.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says on April 19 multiple items were taken from a home in the 7100 block of Old Calvert City Drive in the Reidland area.

Items taken were old stereo equipment, tools, shop equipment, and an antique sewing machine which was a prized possession of the family.

The next day, 31-year-old John Myrick was arrested on several unrelated bench warrants.

During his arrest, deputies saw several old pieces of stereo equipment inside his home.

Deputies questioned him during an interview and Myrick admitted to having stolen items in his home.

A search warrant was obtained, and deputies found the stereo equipment and the antique sewing machine.

A hypodermic needle loaded with methamphetamine was also found in the home.

Deputies also discovered that Myrick had earlier in the year pawned a stolen rifle to a local pawn shop That rifle has been recovered by police.

Myrick has been charged with possession of controlled substance 1st degree (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and receiving stolen property (firearm).

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges or arrests could be made.
