Area health department to cut hours
JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. —
The Jackson County Health Department says it will cut its hours. The board voted to close the department on Fridays due to lack of funding.
The move comes as Illinois inches closer toward 10 months without a state budget. Leaders say staff will take an 8 percent pay cut.
Without state funding, the director says the department is down $800,000, and it couldn’t put off the cuts any longer.
