Teenager arrested for allegedly brandishing handgun

A teenager was arrested Monday for brandishing a firearm.

Around 1:00 p.m., Sikeston police officers were called to the 1300 block of West Murray Lane on reports of a brandished weapon.

The victims say a person they knew threatened them with a firearm.

A witness was able to describe the vehicle the suspect left in.

Police found that vehicle in the 900 block of South West Street.

In the front passenger seat of the vehicle was a 16-year-old police identified as the suspect.

Police arrested the teenager and found three firearms in a child’s backpack. One of the firearms was used in the brandishing call.

Police are seeking charges though Scott County Juvenile Court. The teenager could be charged with four counts of unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a defaced firearm.

The teenager is in the Mississippi County Detention Center.

An investigation is ongoing.
