Mother who left child alone at home checks self in at local hospital

Poplar Bluff police say the mother of a child left alone in a home was found Wednesday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, officers found a baby alone at a home in the 300 block of West Midland Street.

Wednesday morning around 9:00 a.m., the child’s mother, 19-year-old Jasmine Baldazo of Poplar Bluff, checked herself in at a local hospital.

Baldazo told officers she left the child unattended Sunday night.

A probable cause affidavit was submitted to the Butler County prosecuting attorney seeking charges of endangering the welfare of a child.
