Police found 21 baggies of marijuana on a Sikeston man after they arrested him on a warrant.

Around 4:30 p.m.on Tuesday, a Sikeston police officer saw 19-year-old Rubin Hampton walking on William Street near Carroll.

The officer arrested Hampton on a warrant through Scott County for distribution of a controlled substance.

During a search at the Sikeston Department of Public Safety headquarters, officers found 21 individual baggies of marijuana on Hampton’s person.

Officers say Hampton began fighting with two officers in an alleged attempt to keep the officers from finding the baggies.

Police say they will be seeking new charges against Hampton for possession with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance in a jail facility, resisting arrest for a felony, and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.

Hampton is in jail on a $25,000 bond.
