Man driving tractor killed in crash with semi

Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a semi and a farm tractor.

The crash happened on US 68 approximately four miles east of Hopkinsville around 2:17 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies say 43-year-old Jerry Williams of Summertown, Tennessee was driving a farm tractor westbound on US 68. The tractor was pulling a trailer loaded with wooden pallets and traveling in the right lane.

A semi driven by 40-year-old Jason Stahl of Glasgow, Kentucky, was approaching the tractor from behind.

Stahl tried to merge into the left lane, but then saw a motorcycle approaching in the left lane.

Unable to go into the left lane, Stahl hit his brakes to try to avoid hitting the tractor in front of him. The semi ended up rear-ending the tractor.

The crash caused Williams to be ejected from the tractor.

The semi stopped on the shoulder of the road. The tractor was on its side in a ditch.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Stahl was not injured.
