Paducah police warn against fake lottery scam

The Paducah Police Department says it wants to warn you about yet another scam making the rounds in our area.

A Paducah woman notified police after receiving a letter from the "International Lottery Commission" notifying her that she’d won more than $2.2 million in the "Euromillion Spanish Sweepstake International Lottery Program."

Police says the letter appears more legitimate than other such scams, but the second page asks the recipient for their bank name, account number and routing number. Police say you should never provide personal information to anyone in that way or over the telephone, including banking information or Social Security number.
