Police warning local businesses to be on the lookout for fake checks
Paducah police are warning businesses and banks that cash payroll checks to be on the lookout for fakes.
On Friday, police were called to the Banterra Bank on Parisa Drive on reports of a suspicious check.
Police say 45-year-old Jeremiah Rodman of Paducah was attempting to cash a forged check.
He was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
A detective investigating says the check had a legitimate business name on it and appeared to have been printed on a professional quality printer.
He says the check look authentic and wants businesses to exercise caution when cashing payroll checks.
