Update: Water now safe for South Graves Water District customers

SATURDAY UPDATE: Mayfield Electric and Water Systems is now reporting that the water is safe.

ORIGINAL STORY:  Mayfield Electric and Water Systems tells us some customers in south Graves County are warned not to cook, drink or bathe in their tap water due to high pH.

The affected area includes the Wingo, Water Valley, Sedalia, and Cuba areas. It does not include Mayfield. The water service says the problem has been corrected, and the system is being flushed to reach compliance, but the water is not usable yet. It warns that the water can irritate skin.

Mayfield Electric and Water Systems says it hopes to have the problem resolved by mid-morning Saturday.
