Southern Illinois University diversity chancellor to take position at North Carolina State

The current chancellor of institutional diversity at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale is leaving the school this summer.

Dr. Linda McCabe Smith says she is leaving to take a job at North Carolina State University as vice provost. Smith said her decision is not related to ongoing racial issues on SIUC’s campus. She said the ball has been rolling on her new job since January.

Smith spent nearly 23 years at SIUC.
