Illinois State Police issue statewide alert for man who shot officer

Illinois State Police issued a statewide alert for a man wanted for attempted murder of a police officer.

ISP says a Mahomet Police Officer was involved in a shooting with Dracy "Clint" Pendleton, 35 around 10:45pm Saturday. The officer and Pendleton exchanged gunfire, but Pendleton was able to drive away from the scene. 

The officer was shot in the arm and it is believed Pendleton may have also been shot.  ISP says Pendleton may seek treatment for his injuries and he is believed to be armed with an AK-47.

The Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office  issued an arrest warrant for Pendleton for the charge of attempted murder of a police officer. 

Pendleton is described as 5’10", 155 lbs, with blue eyes and blonde hair. He may be driving a 2007 white GMC pick-up truck bearing Illinois registration number 165533B.
