101st Airborne soldier injured in training exercise dies

A 101st Airborne Division soldier died Tuesday after he was injured in a live-fire training exercise at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana, according to the Fort Campbell Public Affairs Office. 

The 101st says soldiers and Department of Emergency Services personnel responded immediately, and the soldier was taken to Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital on Fort Polk. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. 

The 101st says the name of the soldier is being withheld until his next of kin can be notified.
