Woman accused of having relationship with inmate charged with rape

The medical director at the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex in Lyon County has been arrested and charged With multiple counts of rape and other sexual abuse charges, according to the Kentucky State Police.

KSP says on Wednesday it was contacted by the correctional complex in reference to a complaint of an employee "having a sexual relationship" with an inmate. Troopers say 41-year-old Robbie E. Markham of Eddyville was working as the medical director of the complex as an employee of Correct Care Solutions.

In a news release sent Thursday, troopers say Markham is accused of having had "an ongoing sexual relationship with an inmate since March of 2016."

She was arrested at the correctional complex and charged with 10 counts of third degree rape, seven counts of third degree sodomy and 10 counts of second degree sexual abuse.

Troopers say Markham’s vehicle was also searched, and a firearm and a box of ammunition were found. She has also been charged with first degree promoting contraband. 

She was jailed in the Caldwell County Jail.
