Haslam still unready to support Trump until after meeting
Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam still isn’t ready to throw his support behind presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
The governor had been on a trade mission to Asia for most of the last two weeks, and his comments about Trump on Friday were his first since Trump’s last rivals for the nomination dropped out of the race.
Haslam said he will wait until after a planned meeting with Trump along with a group of other governors in the next few weeks before deciding whether to support the nominee.
Haslam raised concerns in the past about Trump’s rhetoric, but he said he wants to specifically discuss issues important to states, like health care and education.
Republican U.S. Sens. Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker said they will support the nominee.
