Man run over after climbing out of Jeep while it was moving

An Earlington, Kentucky man was killed after he climbed out of an open top Jeep and was run over.

On Sunday around 8:04 pm., deputies with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office were called to the area of Island Ford and Inglehart Roads in Hanson for a possible fatal crash.

The driver of the Jeep says he was headed north on Island Ford Road when 21-year-old John Hayden, who was sitting in the back, started to climb out of the right side of the Jeep while it was still moving.

The driver said he and the other passengers tried to get Hayden to get back into the moving Jeep.

The driver says Hayden slipped and fell off the side of the Jeep as it was slowing down. Hayden then went under the Jeep and was run over.

Hayden died in the crash.
