Brake malfunction causes crash in McCracken County
Five people were taken to local hospitals by EMS Wednesday after a two-vehicle wreck in McCracken County.
McCracken County sheriff’s deputies say 18-year-old Brandon Slagle tried to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Old Mayfield Road and Walnut Drive but his car’s brakes malfunctioned. He told deputies he couldn’t avoid driving through the intersection. That’s when he hit another vehicle.
Delrita Adams, 43, was driving the car Slagle hit. 16-year-old Delarion Johnson, 1-year-old Jadale Johnson and 2-year-old Nalzyia Johnson were riding with Adams when the wreck happened. All five people were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.
Adams was cited because, deputies say, the children in the car were not riding in child safety seats.
