Cellmate charged in Jackson County, Ill., inmate death

The Illinois State Police says the cellmate of of a Jackson County Jail inmate found dead in his cell has been charged with first degree murder. 

Collin Korlarz was found dead in his cell Thursday morning.  ISP says Korlarz’s only cellmate, 43-year-old Richard Powell, has been charged with first degree murder. 

Korlarz was being held in the jail on felony DUI charges. Powell was being held for misdemeanor domestic battery. 

Powell’s bond has been set at $1 million.
