State police post dedicating memorial honoring fallen troopers Chrisman and Ponder

Kentucky State Police Post 1 has planned a dedication ceremony next month for a memorial honoring fallen troopers Eric Chrisman and Cameron Ponder.

The dedication ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, June 6, at Kentucky State Police Post 1 in Hickory. The post will unveil a monument honoring Chrisman and Ponder.

Chrisman was fatally injured in June of last year in a crash near Grand Rivers. The 23 year old was responding to a reckless driving complaint on U.S. 62 in Livingston County when the wreck happened. He was only six months into his career with KSP when he died.

Ponder was shot and killed in September of last year while conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 24 in Lyon County. The 31 year old was just nine months into his career when he died.

The monument was paid for through fundraising by the Back the Badge organization and funds donated to the Kentucky State Police Post 1.
