McCracken County observes Memorial Day with annual ceremony
"Taps" was heard outside the McCracken County Courthouse on Monday for the county’s annual Memorial Day ceremony.
It began with a moment of silence to honor those who died fighting for our country. Commissioner Jerry Beyer talked about the ways the ceremony reflects the character of the community.
"This gives us the chance to remember that this is a caring community that takes care of their neighbors, and this is the least we can do as a community to make sure we remember those people that gave us our freedoms." Beyer said
Beyer says it’s been more than 40 years since the county held its first memorial day ceremony.
