Four injured in McCracken County wreck

Four people were taken to hospitals after a wreck involving a car and a motorcycle on South Friendship Road Tuesday, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department.

The wreck happened around 5:38 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies say 89-year-old Elsie Cathey was trying to make a left turn onto South Friendship Road in a 2005 Dodge van when she struck a northbound 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle on South Friendship Road. The motorcycle was driven by 36-year-old Michael Jones.

Cathey and a passenger, 56-year-old Marshall Coleman, were taken to Lourdes hospital for treatment of injuries described as "non-incapacitating." Deputies say Jones was taken to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of "non-incapacity injuries," as well, but Jones’ passenger, a 36-year-old woman deputies did not name, suffered "incapacitating injuries." She was taken to Lourdes, and was later airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Deputies say the woman’s identity cannot be released before her family is notified.

The sheriff’s department was assisted on the scene by Mercy Regional EMS and Lone Oak Fire and Rescue.
