Traffic restriction for KY 80 Exit 22 interchange in Mayfield begins Tuesday night
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says a contractor plans to place an additional traffic restriction along the Julian Carroll-Purchase Parkway work zone at the KY 80 Exit 22 Interchange at Mayfield for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
KYTC says the contractor will pour a concrete deck on the new KY 80 overpass through the middle of the interchange. While that’s going on, traffic on the Purchase Parkway will be routed up the exit ramps, then immediately back down the entry ramps.
The concrete pour is expected to start around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, and take about 10 to 12 hours to complete. The additional restriction will be in place into Wednesday morning.
Because of the restriction, traffic will have to slow in that area, and KYTC spokesman Keith Todd says it’s likely to back up traffic at the construction site. Significant delays may happen during peak travel periods and while equipment is being moved for the concrete pouring. Todd says drivers should try to find a different route if they can.
This additional restriction was originally scheduled for last week, but had to be rescheduled to this week.
It’s part of a larger project to reconstruct the Purchase Parkway Exit 21 Interchange so Interstate 69 can be routed along the parkway in the future.
