Interstate lane closures planned in Nashville, Tenn.

Planning a trip to Nashville this weekend? The Tennessee Department of Transportation says two major interstate projects this weekend that will have a significant impact on weekend travel.

TDOT says from 8 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday, Interstate 65 northbound at the Trinity Lane bridge will be reduced to two lanes for bridge deck repair. It says drivers should consider Ellington Parkway as an alternative route.

From 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Interstate 40 eastbound at the Herman Street bridges on the inner loop will be reduced to two lanes for bridge joint repair. TDOT says drivers should consider Interstate 440 and Briley Parkway as alternative routes.

Both repair projects involve concrete work. TDOT says it will take time for the new concrete to harden before the lanes are opened to traffic. While that’s going on, there’s a possibility that no workers will be present, but the lanes will still be closed.

TDOT says the lanes will be opened to traffic as soon as the concrete reaches the appropriate strength.
