Murray State holding vigil to remember Orlando shooting victims
The Murray State University Office of LGBT Programming, along with the First Presbyterian Church of Murray and First Christian Church of Murray, are hosting a community candlelight vigil to remember victims from this weekend’s mass shooting in Orlando.
The vigil will take place at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 1601 Main Street in Murray, on Monday, June 13 at 8 p.m. Members of the entire Murray State campus community are welcome to participate in this remembrance program.
President Bob Davies said, "On behalf of the Murray State Community, our hearts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims of this weekend’s shooting in Orlando. We are deeply saddened by the senseless act of horrific violence which occurred, needlessly taking innocent lives. These acts must remind us, empower us, to reach out and embrace our neighbor and realize we are all in this together and we can not tolerate hate and prejudices. During this time, it is imperative that we come together and learn from one another, support one another, and respect and embrace, the differences we have as it is through that lens of reflection, we find the commonalities in the hope for our future that unites us."
