Mayfield police warning about man reportedly trying to lure children

Mayfield police are warning people about a report it has received of an older man trying to lure children into his truck.

Police say a gray haired, older, white man possibly driving a red F150 Ford pickup truck, reportedly tried to convince two small children to enter his truck by offering to give them a puppy. When the children said no, police say the man asked them to get into his truck. The children ran into their home, and the man slowly drove away.

The truck was last seen in the North 6th Street area in Mayfield, police say.

The police department says it wants to encourage parents and grandparents to remind their children to always use caution if a stranger tries to talk to them.

If you have information about this incident, you can contact your local law enforcement agency or the Mayfield Police Department at 270-247-1621.
