Mayfield names acting police chief

There’s a new acting police chief in Mayfield, Kentucky.

Mayor Teresa Rochetti-Cantrell tells us former Kentucky State Police Post Commander Nathan Kent will serve as interim police chief starting July 11.

This comes after the second in command, Maj. Shannon Keller, and another officer were suspended last week.

We expect to find out the reason why the officers were suspended this week.

Rochetti-Cantrell says an interim chief is needed because current Chief Bryan Morrison is very ill. He’s been out since March.

The mayor says she personally spoke with Morrison on June 5 to inform him about the decision.
