Major weekend interstate lane closures planned in Nashville

If you’re planning a trip to or though Nashville this weekend, there are some interstate lane closures for you to keep in mind.

Kentucky Transportation Spokesman Keith Todd passed along some information from the Tennessee Department of Transportation regarding construction activity on Interstate 65 northbound and Interstate 40 eastbound starting Friday night and scheduled through Monday morning.

TDOT says I-65 northbound at the Trinity Lane bridge will be reduced to two lanes for bridge deck repair from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Ellington Parkway is suggested as an alternative route.

I-40 eastbound at the Herman Street bridges on the inner loop will be reduced to two lanes for bridge joint repair from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday, TDOT says. I-440 and Briley Parkway are suggested as alternative routes.

Both projects involve concrete work. TDOT says there’s a chance workers won’t be present at the sites while the concrete is curing, but the lanes will still be closed during that time. The lanes will be reopened once the concrete is strong enough for travelers to drive on.
