City commission approves demolition contract for former nursing home

Demolition of a local building will cost the city of Paducah about $44,805.

Paducah commissioners approved a contract Tuesday night with Danny Cope and Sons to bring down the former nursing home next to the floodwall. The building sets at 501 North 3rd Street.

The parking lot at the site will remain for use by the Holiday Inn at the riverfront, which is slated to open early next year.

The city expects the demolition project to be complete by August of this year.
