Man identified from Friday drowning in southern Illinois

SUNDAY UPDATE: Rockwell identified the man as 50 year-old Christopher Key.  He is from rural Johnson County.  An autopsy was performed but Rockwell is waiting on toxicology results before releasing an official cause of death.   

ORIGINAL STORY: Lake of Egypt Fire and Rescue crews got a call around 9 p.m. about a drowning at Lake of Egypt Friday, according to Johnson County, IL coroner, David Rockwell.

Rockwell said a man drowned at that lake. He said they’re not releasing his identity pending notification of the family.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday at the Williamson County, IL Morgue.
